State Grid Zhenjiang Power Supply Company recently sent staff to the grape sorting center in Dingzhuang Village, Maoshan Town, to assess the power supply for two automated sorting lines and cold storage compressors. This initiative aims to support the high-quality development of the local grape industry.
Dingzhuang Village, known as the “Hometown of Grapes in China,” is Jiangsu Province’s largest fresh grape production base. Over the past 34 years, it has cultivated 52 grape varieties, including “Kyoho,” “Summer Black,” and “Shine Muscat,” expanding its cultivation area from 2 mu (about 0.13 hectares) to 20,000 mu (approximately 1,333 hectares), with an annual output exceeding 20,000 tons. Dingzhuang grapes are now sold in over 2,000 supermarkets nationwide and have reached high-end markets in Southeast Asia.
In response to the growing e-commerce trend, Dingzhuang has upgraded its online sales system, including the construction of a new sorting center in 2022. This facility features a 1,600-cubic-meter cold storage unit and four refrigeration units. In August, five additional chillers were installed, increasing power demand by 100 kW. The local power supply department proactively offered customized electrical solutions, expedited online applications for new installations, and opened a “green channel” to facilitate the connection of a new 400 kVA transformer in just 18 days—30 days faster than usual. This rapid response has bolstered the local specialty economy and enhanced the export potential of Dingzhuang grapes to international markets.
