Ohmium International, a leading green hydrogen company specializing in Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyzers, has entered a strategic partnership with Ten08 Energy, an innovator in clean ammonia production. This collaboration will see Ohmium’s advanced PEM electrolyzer technology supply green hydrogen for Ten08 Energy’s ambitious 500MW clean ammonia project in Texas.
Located on the Gulf Coast, the project aims to produce 1.4 million metric tons of clean ammonia annually. It will utilize a blend of blue ammonia, derived from natural gas with carbon capture, and green ammonia, produced from renewable energy sources. This initiative marks a significant move towards decarbonizing the ammonia industry, offering a sustainable and cost-effective solution to meet the increasing demand for cleaner energy.
The project will start with an initial 200MW capacity, scaling up to 500MW over time. By increasing the production of blue ammonia, the project will drive economies of scale, making green ammonia more viable. Ohmium’s PEM electrolyzers will be essential in generating the green hydrogen needed for the green ammonia segment, with the final product being shipped to customers in Europe and Asia.
Jean Perarnaud, CEO of Ten08 Energy, commented, “We are excited to utilize the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and high purity of hydrogen from Ohmium’s PEM electrolyzers for this groundbreaking project. As renewable energy capacity grows, our phased approach, combined with Ohmium’s scalable solutions, will meet the rising demand for sustainable energy.”
Arne Ballantine, CEO of Ohmium, added, “Partnering with Ten08 on this innovative project is a great opportunity. Ammonia’s potential as a versatile energy carrier is vast, evolving from a traditional fertilizer to a key fuel source. We look forward to contributing to the production of green ammonia as infrastructure and demand continue to develop.”
