Baker Hughes, an energy technology company, announced the launch of two new Druck calibration solutions on Monday, aimed at enhancing efficiency and performance in aviation ground test instrumentation.
In response to the aviation sector’s demand for increased productivity, Baker Hughes’ new Druck technologies will streamline pre-flight aircraft maintenance checks and eliminate the need for third-party calibration of Air Data Test Sets (ADTS), also known as pitot static tests, which simulate and verify aircraft airspeed, rate of climb, and altitude.
Typically, pitot static test systems are sent to external calibration labs every 12-18 months to ensure accuracy and reliability, resulting in downtime for days or even weeks. The Druck PACE Tallis transfer standard calibrator, utilizing Druck’s proprietary TERPS (Trench-Etched Resonant Pressure Sensor) technology, allows in-house pitot static calibration, even on the hangar floor, in less than 30 minutes. This eliminates the need for a calibration primary standard, offering industry-leading accuracy, precision, and long-term stability in a portable, digital device. This advancement provides significant time savings, operational improvements, and cost reductions.
To further improve aircraft maintenance turn-around times, Baker Hughes introduced the Druck DPI610E Aero, a handheld portable calibration device and the latest evolution in the Druck product line, first released in 1984. The Druck DPI610E Aero is designed to quickly and accurately identify pressure leaks in pitot static systems, allowing operators to focus ADTS technology on more complex testing, thus saving time and resources.
Baker Hughes’ Druck aerospace solutions, including the PACE Tallis and DPI610E Aero, along with Waygate Technologies’ non-destructive testing and inspection solutions, will be showcased at the Farnborough International Airshow (booth 4138, Hall 4) in the UK from July 22-26. With approximately 500,000 sensors already in operation, controlling various aircraft systems, Baker Hughes’ Druck product line is a leading provider of pressure measurement technology in the aerospace sector.
