TotalEnergies and ADNOC Gas Sign Five-Year LNG Supply Agreement for Up to 1.6 Million Tonnes
TotalEnergies and ADNOC Gas have announced a five-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement, strengthening their long-standing commercial relationship and expanding cooperation in international natural gas markets. Under the agreement, ADNOC Gas will supply TotalEnergies with a total volume of up to 1.6 million tonnes of LNG over the five-year contract period. The first deliveries are expected to begin in 2026.
The agreement represents another development in the companies’ ongoing partnership and supports TotalEnergies’ strategy of maintaining a diversified portfolio of LNG supplies to serve customers across major international markets. It also reinforces ADNOC Gas’ position as an integrated gas supplier with the capacity to serve growing demand for natural gas in different regions.
The agreement was announced by TotalEnergies, listed on Euronext Paris under the ticker TTE, the London Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange. ADNOC Gas, which is listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, will provide the contracted LNG volumes under the five-year arrangement.
For TotalEnergies, securing additional LNG supply from the United Arab Emirates provides access to natural gas resources from a strategically positioned producer. The location of the UAE between Europe and Asia offers commercial flexibility for LNG portfolio management, particularly as international trade flows continue to connect major consumption centres across both regions.
Stéphane Michel, President of Gas, Renewables & Power at TotalEnergies, described the agreement as an important milestone in the relationship between the two companies. He highlighted the long-standing partnership and the intention to strengthen cooperation over the longer term.
Michel also noted that the UAE’s geographical position between Europe and Asia would support TotalEnergies’ LNG trading and supply activities. The additional volumes are expected to help the company maintain its position among the major suppliers operating through the global LNG portfolio market.
The agreement also reflects TotalEnergies’ continued focus on securing supplies from established producers and maintaining access to international LNG markets. A diversified supply portfolio allows the company to manage deliveries across different destinations while responding to changing customer requirements and market conditions.
For ADNOC Gas, the contract provides another opportunity to expand its international LNG business and strengthen its commercial relationships with major energy companies. The agreement supports the company’s strategy of developing long-term partnerships while serving customers in established and emerging natural gas markets.
Fatema Al Nuaimi, Chief Executive Officer of ADNOC Gas, said global LNG demand continues to increase and that the company is positioned to benefit from the expanding market. She explained that the agreement demonstrates the competitiveness of ADNOC Gas’ supply offering and the strength of its LNG operations.
According to Al Nuaimi, long-term commercial arrangements are important for supporting business growth, improving operational and market resilience, and creating sustainable value for shareholders. The agreement with TotalEnergies reflects the company’s ability to establish supply relationships that support its international expansion objectives.
ADNOC Gas operates an integrated business covering multiple stages of the natural gas value chain. Its activities include receiving feedstock from ADNOC, processing natural gas, fractionating gas products and supplying finished products to customers in domestic and international markets.
The company operates large-scale, long-life gas processing and fractionation facilities that support its position in the UAE energy sector. Its integrated operating model connects upstream feedstock supplies with processing infrastructure, product marketing and sales activities.
ADNOC Gas supplies approximately 60% of the United Arab Emirates’ sales gas requirements, making it an important contributor to the country’s domestic energy supply. In addition to serving the UAE market, the company supplies end customers in more than 20 countries, demonstrating the international reach of its commercial operations.
Its LNG marketing activities also contribute to ADNOC’s wider global LNG marketing and trading platform. This platform brings together the capabilities of ADNOC Gas, XRG and ADNOC Trading to serve customers across important international markets.
The coordinated platform is intended to strengthen ADNOC’s participation in global natural gas trading and improve its ability to connect LNG supplies with customers in different regions. Through its processing infrastructure, marketing operations and international partnerships, ADNOC Gas continues to develop its role in the global gas industry.
The five-year agreement with TotalEnergies adds to these activities by establishing a long-term supply relationship with a major international energy company. The contracted volume of up to 1.6 million tonnes provides a framework for deliveries beginning in 2026 and extending across the agreed contract period.
The announcement comes as LNG remains an important component of international energy supply. Countries and energy companies continue to rely on natural gas to meet electricity generation, industrial and other energy requirements. LNG enables natural gas to be transported by specialised vessels to markets that are not directly connected through pipeline infrastructure.
For international suppliers and portfolio companies, long-term agreements can provide greater visibility over supply arrangements and support commercial planning. For buyers, contracts with established producers can contribute to supply diversification and provide additional flexibility in managing their LNG portfolios.
The TotalEnergies-ADNOC Gas agreement brings together two companies with established positions in the international gas sector. TotalEnergies will add the contracted volumes to its LNG portfolio, while ADNOC Gas will further develop its international marketing activities through the relationship.
The first deliveries expected in 2026 will mark the beginning of the supply arrangement. Both companies have highlighted the importance of the agreement in strengthening their partnership and supporting their respective positions in the global LNG market.
