Altus Power Appoints Raj Soi as First Chief Operating Officer
Altus Power, a leading commercial-scale power company, has announced the appointment of Raj Soi as its first Chief Operating Officer (COO), strengthening its executive leadership as the company continues to expand its renewable energy portfolio and operational capabilities. Soi brings more than two decades of experience in distributed generation, renewable energy development, project execution and the management of owner-operator platforms. His appointment is expected to support Altus Power’s continued growth in the commercial-scale electricity market.
The appointment comes as demand for locally generated electricity continues to increase across the United States. Businesses, commercial property owners and other energy consumers are increasingly seeking reliable and affordable power solutions, creating opportunities for companies that develop, own and operate renewable energy infrastructure. Altus Power believes its established portfolio and operating platform position it to benefit from these market developments.
Gregg Felton, Chief Executive Officer of Altus Power, said the company has reached an important stage in its development, making dedicated operational leadership increasingly important. He noted that the company’s expanding portfolio requires strong management capabilities to support the construction, operation, maintenance and upgrading of its assets.
Felton described Altus Power as a market leader in a period of growing demand for locally generated electricity. He highlighted the company’s operating platform as an important competitive advantage and said that Soi’s professional background makes him well suited to help manage its next stage of development.
According to Felton, Soi has spent much of his career developing and managing owner-operator businesses similar to Altus Power. His experience in building operational teams, overseeing project delivery and managing renewable energy assets is expected to strengthen the company’s ability to execute its long-term business strategy.
As COO, Soi will report directly to Felton and oversee several important operational functions, including engineering, project management and technical due diligence for new investments. These responsibilities will place him at the center of the company’s project execution activities and investment-related technical assessments.
His role will include working closely with Altus Power’s Chief Investment Officer and Chief Energy Officer on equipment procurement, project development and portfolio upgrades. Through this collaboration, the company aims to coordinate investment decisions with engineering requirements, construction activities and the long-term operational performance of its renewable energy assets.
Soi will also work with the wider executive leadership team to strengthen the company’s operational structure as its business expands. His responsibilities will include helping develop the processes, resources and technical capabilities required to manage a growing portfolio of commercial-scale power projects.
The creation of the COO position represents an important organizational development for Altus Power. As the company manages an increasingly large collection of solar installations across multiple markets, coordinating engineering, procurement, construction and asset management activities becomes essential. Dedicated operational oversight can help maintain consistency across projects while supporting the efficient management of existing facilities and future investments.
Soi said he was pleased to join Altus Power and expressed confidence in the company’s position within the commercial power market. He described the business as well positioned to participate in the next phase of industry growth and emphasized his interest in building the operational capabilities needed to support its expansion.
His appointment reflects the importance of experienced operational leadership in the renewable energy sector, particularly for businesses that own and operate distributed generation assets. Companies managing large portfolios must coordinate multiple stages of project development, from initial technical assessments and equipment selection to construction, commissioning and ongoing asset management.
Before joining Altus Power, Soi served as Chief Operating Officer of SunVest Solar. In that position, he led project execution, construction, procurement and technical asset management activities across the company’s operating and under-construction portfolios. His responsibilities involved overseeing important areas of renewable energy project delivery and supporting the management of assets throughout different stages of development and operation.
His experience at SunVest Solar provided him with direct exposure to the operational requirements of a growing solar energy platform. Managing both completed installations and projects under construction requires coordination between engineering teams, contractors, equipment suppliers and asset management personnel. This background is relevant to Altus Power’s activities as it continues to expand its commercial solar portfolio.
Before his tenure at SunVest Solar, Soi served as Executive Vice President of Operations at Summit Ridge Energy. He also held leadership positions at Goldman Sachs Renewable Power Group, Soltage and NRG Home Solar. These roles provided him with experience across different renewable energy and distributed generation businesses, further strengthening his background in operational management and project development.
His professional experience spans multiple areas of the renewable energy industry, including construction oversight, procurement, technical asset management and the development of owner-operator platforms. This combination of expertise is expected to support Altus Power as it continues to manage existing projects and pursue additional investment opportunities.
Soi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Rutgers University. His engineering education, combined with more than 20 years of industry experience, provides a technical foundation for his new responsibilities at Altus Power.
Altus Power owns and operates more than 1.4 gigawatts of commercial-scale solar assets across more than 700 sites in 30 states and the District of Columbia. Its geographically diversified portfolio provides locally generated electricity to commercial and industrial customers in multiple markets.
The company’s business model focuses on developing, owning and operating commercial-scale solar infrastructure. By maintaining ownership and operational responsibility for its assets, Altus Power participates in different stages of the renewable energy value chain, from project development and investment through long-term operations.
As electricity demand increases, locally generated power is becoming an important part of the energy supply mix. Commercial and industrial customers are exploring solutions that can help address their electricity requirements while supporting energy cost management and sustainability objectives. Solar installations located close to consumption centers can contribute to these objectives by supplying renewable electricity within regional power markets.
Altus Power is expanding its presence in key markets to respond to these changing requirements. Its existing portfolio of more than 1.4 GW provides a foundation for further development, while its network of operating sites offers opportunities to strengthen asset management and pursue portfolio upgrades.
The appointment of Soi as the company’s first COO comes at a time when operational execution is increasingly important to its growth strategy. His responsibilities across engineering, project management, procurement coordination and technical due diligence will help align the company’s investment activities with its operating capabilities.
By adding dedicated leadership for these functions, Altus Power aims to strengthen the management of its expanding solar portfolio and support the development of future commercial-scale power projects. Soi’s experience across several established renewable energy companies is expected to contribute to the company’s efforts to scale its operations and maintain its position in the growing commercial power market.
