Anaergia Forms Joint Venture to Deliver C$22 Million Technology Package for Ora Biogas Project in Basilicata, Italy
Anaergia Inc. (TSX: ANRG; OTCQX: ANRGF), a global leader in resource recovery and renewable energy solutions, has announced that its Italian subsidiary, Anaergia S.r.l., has entered into a joint venture with Tozzi Sud and Isolmec Group to design and construct a major new anaerobic digestion facility in Basilicata, southern Italy. The project, known as the Ora Biogas facility, marks Anaergia’s first collaboration with BioHold, a bioenergy platform jointly owned by Pietro Fiorentini and the Vesper Next Generation Infrastructure Fund. The partnership underscores Anaergia’s continued expansion in Italy’s growing renewable gas market and its strategic push to advance circular economy projects across Europe.
The new facility, developed under a C$22 million contract, will process a wide range of agricultural residues to produce renewable biomethane. Once operational, the plant is projected to generate more than 47,000 megawatt-hours of biomethane annually, which will be directly injected into Italy’s national gas distribution network. This clean energy output will support the country’s broader decarbonization objectives by reducing reliance on fossil gas and promoting the reuse of organic waste streams for energy generation.
According to Anaergia, construction of the Ora Biogas facility is already underway, with commercial operations expected to begin by June 2026. The company will provide a full suite of proprietary technologies, including high-efficiency anaerobic digestion systems, biogas upgrading solutions, and integrated automation and control packages. These systems are designed to optimize energy recovery, maximize operational uptime, and reduce the plant’s carbon footprint.
